Southwest Region Director – Introduction
Posted by Jeff Talbott on July 16, 2025 at 12:03 pmTo all our IACLEA colleagues across Arizona, Texas, California, Colorado, and New Mexico, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the recently appointed Southwest Region Director on the Board.? For those of you that I have previously met, I look forward to continuing to work together in collaboration and support of our noble profession as campus safety leaders.? For those I have not yet had the privilege to meet, I truly hope our paths will soon cross to afford us the opportunity to get to know one another and pursue common challenges, share ideas, and celebrate individual and collective successes. To share a little background about myself, I have been in the law enforcement profession for the past 42+ years, with the most recent 14 of those years being at institutions of higher education, both non-sworn at a private university, and again returning to a sworn role at my current public university in 2022.? I have been an active member of IACLEA since 2011, and have found the Association, staff, members, and associates to be the most committed and dedicated professionals leading and serving our campus communities.I recently returned from the IACLEA Annual Conference in Atlanta and once again found the featured presenters, breakout sessions, professional networking, vendor participation, social opportunities, and peer camaraderie to be absolutely invaluable.? For those who could not make it to Atlanta or have never had the opportunity to attend an IACLEA Annual Conference, I hope you are able to join us next year in Orlando, Florida at the beautiful Caribe Royale Resort and Conference Center on June 25-28, 2026.? I truly believe you will find the experience to be energetic, professionally rewarding, and personally enlightening.I am humbled and honored to represent you all on the IACLEA Board of Directors and look forward to bringing your suggestions, concerns, critiques, and accolades to the greater Board, Officers, and professional leadership staff of the organization.? To that end, I will be working towards establishing monthly virtual regional meetings to mutually exchange information with the goal of keeping everyone informed on the vision and direction our IACLEA President Rob Kilfoyle has set for the Association.? In my discussions with President Kilfoyle, I am deeply impressed with the leadership and commitment he has demonstrated and know he will continue the persistent forward momentum our Immediate Past President, L. Angela Webb brought during her Presidency.I can be reached by email at?jtalbott@ucr.edu, work number 951-827-5222, or cell 951-531-3040, at any time.Thank you all for your leadership and service and I look forward to working together to ensure all our respective institutions and IACLEA continue to grow, excel, and benefit from the collective knowledge and commitment you all bring to the greatest campus law enforcement organization in the world.Until We Gather – Best Regards,Jeff Talbott
