  Taser Position

  Dear Colleagues,

  Currently, my officers carry their Tasers (Taser 7) weak side cross draw on the belt. There is an interest by a few officers to move the Taser off the belt to the front side of their external carriers. The officer’s stated issue is the inability to comfortably reach the Taser across their external carrier and duty gear to the weak side.

  Weapons retention (even with a retention holster) is our biggest concern as the Taser will be front and center during any physical altercation. Image is always a topic for discussion as well, and there will also be a new training dynamic if some officers move to the new position.

  I am interested in your thoughts on this issue both positive and negative.
