Suspicion of employee under the influence at work
?Greetings. I was wondering if any other institutions have any policies or procedures around transporting/dealing with an employee who is under the suspicion of being intoxicated at work. We have only had a couple occurrences over many years and have been asked to accompany the employee, who voluntarily agrees to the test, and a representative from HR to an off-campus occupational health facility to have a breathalyzer test done.
?We obviously would not want the employee to drive to said facility. Our legal council is supportive of this transport happening as long as the employee is going voluntarily. My concern is for Security Officer safety and all parties agree that if the employee was belligerent or we feel it is unsafe for them to be transported we would reach out to local LE and/or the fire department.
