To the members of the Mid-Atlantic region. Thanks for joining the meeting today. As promised here is the information on the NYPD Sentry Program.
Operation Sentry is a nationwide intelligence and training initiative established by the NYPD Intelligence Division in 2006 to enhance collaboration and strengthen security across jurisdictions.
Today, it connects 1,300+ vetted law enforcement partners from over 500 agencies in all 50 states, serving as a trusted cop?to?cop network that accelerates intelligence sharing and multi?agency coordination. Acting as an intelligence force multiplier, Sentry produces and disseminates tactical and strategic products, enables rapid exchange of threat information, and provides mutual investigative support during critical incidents.
Its operational focus spans international and domestic terrorism, homegrown violent extremism, active and mass shootings, ambushes on law enforcement, and large?scale civil disorder.
A cornerstone of Sentry’s success is its comprehensive Training & Knowledge Exchange program, which strengthens partner capabilities and promotes interoperability.
Among its most impactful offerings, the NYPD hosts biannual dignitary protection training sessions designed for outside agencies worldwide. These highly specialized courses cover protective operations, detail and resource management, protective intelligence, drone detection and mitigation, and industry developments tied to current global events. Over the past five years, more than 1,200 professionals from over 300 agencies worldwide have completed this training, sharpening their ability to plan, manage, and execute protective strategies in evolving threat environments.
